Denton Chapter Members:

Welcome to the Sam Johnson Chapter. The addition of the Denton Chapter members will make us a bigger and better chapter. The Sam Johnson has already been providing programs and support to the Denton area for several years. For instance, we have and will continue to provide scholarships for the Air Force JROTC units at Billy Ryan, Ray Braswell, John H. Guyer, Marcus, Flower Mound, and Keller Central High Schools. We are also giving scholastic awards to Civil Air Patrol cadets from the Denton area to attend Powered and Glider Flight Academies.

The strength of the Sam Johnson Chapter is our Youth Programs. Our membership is always looking for ways to start new or expand programs. All it takes is money and people who will contribute their time. Our two largest fundraisers, the Honor Flag Program and the Sam Johnson Golf Classic on October 7th at Heritage Ranch Country Club. To start new or expand programs, we need volunteers. No assistance is too small. Please contact me if you would like to assist.

We have two upcoming Chapter events for our members. On June 27th, a tour of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics F-35 is scheduled. The visit will be hosted by Lockheed Vice President General (Retired) Gary "Nordo" North and will include a briefing on the Fort Worth plant operation and the F35 program, lunch and a tour of the production facility and the F35 cockpit demonstrator. You should have received an email in which you are able to sign up for the tour.

On Saturday August 3rd, the Sam Johnson Awards Luncheon will be held at the Gleneagles Country Club. The luncheon will honor about sixty of the beneficiaries of our youth programs. Also, John “Lucky” Luckadoo has accepted to be the guest speaker. Luckadoo is the last living original pilot of the WWII Eighth Air Force 100th Bomb Group known as the “Bloody Hundredth,” which suffered high casualties. He flew 25 missions as a B-17 bomber pilot experiencing terrible things, seeing terrible things happen and he is grateful to have survived it.” You will receive an email in which you will be able to sign up for the luncheon.
